After anticipation of integrating two health systems for the last two years, Essentia Health and Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) recently announced their merger will no longer be in effect.
Shared in a press release last week, the two health systems decided their merger was not the right move to take at this time in respect of their organizations, colleagues and patients.
Essentia Health, a Minnesota-based health system, serves patients in not only in their home state but in Wisconsin and North Dakota.
MCHS is based in Wisconsin and serves Wisconsin residents and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
The health systems shared they would continue to collaborate with each other, but as separate organizations that are "dedicated to sustainable rural healthcare."
In a joint statement they shared they “have great respect for one another, and we each remain committed to strengthening the health of our communities as we deliver high-quality, compassionate patient care.”
In this latest episode of Tuning In to the C-Suite podcast, Briana Contreras, an editor with MHE had the pleasure of meeting Loren McCaghy, director of consulting, health and consumer engagement and product insight at Accenture, to discuss the organization's latest report on U.S. consumers switching healthcare providers and insurance payers.
