Press Ganey Acquires SPH Analytics

Article

Acquisition to unite previously fragmented provider and payer insights to drive optimal healthcare outcomes.

Press Ganey, the national leader in healthcare consumer and workforce engagement, recently announced the acquisition of SPH Analytics (SPH), the national leader in member experience measurement and engagement for the health insurance industry. Through this acquisition, Press Ganey will combine its industry-leading patient experience data with SPH’s rich member experience data to bring holistic and powerful insights to the fragmented provider and payer landscape.

“With the acquisition of SPH, we become the only organization that can provide insights at every touchpoint across the entire health care journey,” said Patrick T. Ryan, Chairman and CEO, Press Ganey. “The challenge in driving wholesale change in health care is that organizations have data about only a fragment of the journey and by combining it, we’ll be able to remedy that challenge. New care models are emerging, and it is in the best interest of both payers and providers to understand the entire picture as the industry shifts to value-based care driven by outcomes.”

The combined scale of the two organizations will enable Press Ganey to provide unmatched insights at national, regional and local levels and accelerate innovation in the payer industry. Current SPH clients will also benefit from Press Ganey’s best-in-class technology and consulting services.

“SPH has created unrivaled impact within the health plan segment helping our clients earn the highest levels of member experience and engagement while driving sustained performance improvement,” said Amy Amick, CEO, SPH Analytics. “We look forward to our next chapter with Press Ganey and building upon this strong foundation to immediately bring even greater value to those we serve.”

Through this acquisition, Press Ganey’s experience insights will be backed by data from the voices of more than:

  • 40 million patients annually
  • 23 million members annually
  • 3 million caregivers annually

“Press Ganey offers ready technology and analytic solutions that we will introduce to health plans facing increasing challenges with new regulatory requirements and rising member expectations. Specifically, our robust analytics combined with expert-led advisory services can meaningfully improve member experience, reduce member churn and earn sustained improvement in Star Ratings,” said Nell Buhlman, President and COO, Press Ganey. “But this is about more than the immediate benefit Press Ganey can provide payers. It is about finally having a complete picture of the care experience and using those insights to improve healthcare. It is also about bridging the gap between providers and payers, creating universal alignment on measurement and objectives, and ensuring resources are spent on what matters.”
