The AMA, AHA and ANA Release PSA Urging Folks to Stay Updated on COVID-19 Vaccines

Healthcare leaders are urging the public in a new public service announcement to make sure they are up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccines, including the updated bivalent booster dose when eligible.

The American Hospital Association (AHA), American Medical Association (AMA), and American Nurses Association (ANA) released the PSA today, which featured their leaders who stressed that COVID-19 vaccines, including the updated boosters, protect us from serious disease and death and are safe and effective.

According to the PSA, COVID-19 patients are still in the hospital and are very sick.

In addition, about 234,000 COVID deaths since June 2021 could have been prevented with vaccinations, a report featured in MHE this January, said.

The report shared that protection from COVID-19 vaccines can diminish over time, so, booster doses are needed to maintain robust immunity. The deaths reported indicate that many of those people had the primary series or a booster many months ago or even over a year earlier - which left their immunity more vulnerable.
