Cost is a barrier to care for chronic and rare diseases, so financial assistance is way to lower that barrier and help people manage their health condition, says Green, president of Accessia Health
In this segment of an interview with Managed Healthcare Executive, Tiara Green, M.S. Ed., president of Accessia Health, discusses her organization's efforts to provide a "safety net" for people living with rare and chronic diseases. Accessia's focus is on financial assistance," she said.
"In order to manage your health, you have to have access to care, and one of the biggest barriers to care is the cost," Green said.
Accessis has branched out from helping people pay health insurance premiums and copays to providing assistance with travel expenses and other costs borne by patients, Green said.

Healthcare hasn't been a priority of the second Trump administration so far, panelists at the Asembia agreed. Medicaid may loom large, though, as the administration and congressional Republicans look for ways to slash government spending as a way of offsetting major tax cuts.
