In a conversation prior to the AHIP 2024 Meeting in Las Vegas, Managed Healthcare Executive chatted with Karen Schulte, president of SCAN Health Plan, about her presentation June 12.
The discussion included Schulte explaining segmentation analysis and its benefits, which involves dividing a population into groups with similar needs to tailor services and benefits more effectively.
Schulte emphasized that this approach helps provide equitable healthcare by addressing specific needs and disparities.
"Think of it as slicing a pie into pieces where each piece represents a group of people with similar needs or characteristics," she said. "This helps us to offer services and benefits that fit each group better."
She shared examples such as SCAN’s women-focused product, SCAN Inspired, and the Medicare Advantage plan for LGBTQ+ seniors, SCAN Affirm, which were developed to address identified gaps in care.
