In a discussion with Managed Healthcare Executive, Jonathan I. Silverberg, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H., an Associate Professor of Dermatology at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, discussed the concept of "atopic march."
Silverberg highlighted that while patients with atopic dermatitis have higher rates of allergic diseases, the rigid temporal pattern suggested by atopic march may not apply universally.
He also addressed that patients' atopic comorbidities may precede or differ from the expected trajectory.
Additionally, Silverberg touched on the limited translational data for the elderly population in atopic dermatitis and the variations in insurance coverage for advanced therapies, noting age-specific indications for different treatments.
