Braly departs, Amerigroup acquisition pending
WellPoint has a history of major acquisitions, and the new CEO already has something on the to-do list.
WellPoint has seen significant growth and diversification in the past decade. After Angela Braly’s departure on August 28, it’s clear that the pending acquisition of Amerigroup will be the first order of business for the incoming CEO.

2004: Anthem, Inc. and WellPoint Health Networks, Inc. merge to form WellPoint, Inc.
2005: WellPoint acquires Lumenos; merges with WellChoice
2006: Acquisition of QualChoice Health Plan’s Medicaid operations
2007: Acquisition of American Imaging Management; Angela Braly becomes CEO and President in June
2008: Acquisitions of Resolution Health and DeCare Dental.
2009: WellPoint sells NextRx to Express Scripts, Inc.
2011: Acquisition of CareMore Health Group
