There are still many unknowns with cancer-especially when looking at direct causes. However, it is obvious that some environments have higher concentrations of new cancer than others.
To help illustrate that, we compiled the most recent data from the CDC to see which states had the highest rates of new cancer. The CDC measure all of the new cancer cases in 2015 and divided it into rates based on 100,000 population. The data do not specify any reasons for these rates, only that some states have a much higher rate of cancer than others. Nevada had the lowest rate, at 348.8 new cases per 100,000 population, while Kentucky (the highest) had a rate of 512 per 100,000.
