Pennsylvania’s HealthAmerica has announced the HealthAmericaOne Rewards program, which pays members for successfully completing health-promoting wellness activities.
Members who complete an online health risk assessment and accept interaction by wellness program coaches will receive a $100 incentive. Members who use tobacco can earn an additional $100 reward by completing a QuitNet smoking cessation program. A reward of $50 can be earned by participating in an online wellness program. The maximum reward is $250 per contract year.
“Focusing on achieving and maintaining good health is gaining acceptance as a viable way to mitigate growth in medical costs,” said Mary Lou Osborne, chief operating officer for HealthAmerica, in a press statement. “HealthAmerica has produced a unique model for encouraging good health in the individual marketplace. We’re helping all members understand that wellness is more than just the absence of sickness; it is good physical health and the prevention of illness.”
The new HealthAmericaOne Rewards program complements wellness options that are currently built into HealthAmericaOne’s plans. The insurance plans are being offered with a range of deductibles and some of the lowest premiums in the market. Preventive care services are not subject to the deductible and are covered at 100 percent.
