He's been afforded the perspective of a dozen different positions in healthcare, starting with Blue Cross of California in 1980. He began his career conducting financial audits of the entity that merged with WellPoint Health Networks in 1996, but the industry's transformation from indemnity to managed care, the evolution of capitation in California, and an increasingly savvy consumer forced him up the corporate ladder at a near-frantic pace.
