Michael Norris, vice president, medical outreach programs, Great-West Healthcare

Article

Great-West Healthcare is a two-time winner of DMAA's "Best Disease Management Program" for PPOs.

Michael Norris
Vice President, Medical Outreach Programs
Great-West Healthcare
Greenwood Village, Colo.

Great-West's DM programs focus on the most common chronic diseases, in addition to pain management–back, neck, hip, carpel tunnel and migraines–neo-natal, cancer, maternity and end-stage renal disease and rely on primary nurse coaches. Norris says the programs are holistic and combine wellness, care and case management and utilization review, resulting in an above average return on investment. Although DM is making headway, Norris believes that there are still many underserved markets. Looking into the future, he imagines a growing merger of wellness, behavioral change and more employer incentives in DM.
