Lincolnshire, Il.-Employers are expressing an unprecedented level of interest and actions toward tackling the root causes of escalating costs, according to a trends survey from Hewitt Associates.
"There's a need for more innovative design, network and medical management solutions that reduce cost for employer and participant and move away from simple cost-sharing decisions between employer and employee and get to root cause of healthcare trend," says Tom Beauregard, healthcare strategy leader at Hewitt Associates.
Viable disease management models are needed to control the cost of chronic conditions and improve productivity, Beauregard says.
"Address the need for provider transparency by producing cost and quality measures for hospitals and specialists," Beauregard adds.
