Lyme disease rising
By Jeanne Sabatie, Production Editor
Whether due to more people getting infected or better reporting of the disease, the incidence of reported Lyme disease has doubled since 1990. In the March 16 Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, a summary of cases reported to the CDC in 1999 found that Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York and Pennsylvania had the highest incidence per 100,000 population; children and adults aged 45 to 59 comprised the majority of cases.
