Cigna is expanding its individual healthcare exchange offerings to new geographies for 2020, with health plans now available in 19 markets across 10 states. This includes expansion into select counties in Kansas, South Florida, and Utah as well as new counties in Tennessee and Virginia, the company reports.
Cigna's plans on the individual healthcare exchanges will include a number of features that provide access to quality healthcare. Where health plans allow, Cigna customers will be able to access preventive care services and will have expanded online access to doctors through Cigna's telehealth service at no additional cost.
Additionally, to encourage consumers to take charge of their health, Cigna will provide its customers discounts for services such as gym memberships and nutrition support, and is also introducing a loyalty program in several markets. Customers earn rewards under the loyalty program by completing activities such as selecting a primary care physician and completing an assessment designed to help them understand and manage their health risks.
“Our experience from having a consistent presence on the exchange has enabled us to better understand individual consumers’ needs and to price more accurately—as reflected in an average overall rate decrease across our markets for 2020 plans,” says Lisa Lough, general manager of Cigna’s individual and family plans business.
Cigna customers will also receive ‘available anytime’ support through its 24/7 customer service, and access to health and wellness resources through Cigna.com and the myCigna app. Eligible customers with complex health needs will also be given personalized support from a single point of contact through Cigna's My Personal Champion program.
“From what we are seeing in our markets, there are generally more carriers offering plans on the exchanges in several markets than before––creating greater choice for consumers in this important source for individual healthcare coverage,” Lough says.
